This little download indicator is cute on iOS when I'm downloading a 12MB app but not so useful when I'm downloading XCode on macOS Mojave 😡
@casey my fav macos secret is that you need to leave launchpad in your dock.

@casey it serves as the progress bar for app store downloads. if you remove it from the dock then the only progress bar is the mystery ring.
